Sleepy Saturday:P

These are top of the line: Nike Air Max Breathe 3 & worn by Rafael Nadal, Carlos Moya, James Blake and Feliciano Lopez. So you must be wondering why am I showing the picture of these shoes? I just ordered these for him: ) His birthday gift.....Excellent because he helped me pick it. So he has to love them.

Today went by so fast since he was here. We had a great breakfast (pancakes) together. Ofcourse, yesterday's dinner was lovely too. Time passed by so fast with him today. Now I am going t have to study really fast to catch up. I should be okay as long as I know my stuff: )
So, he helped me strighten my hair today. Wanna see it? He did an excellent job.

~What a good day~

Friday evenings are my favourite!!!! Ofcourse I got done early from the lab and got home at a good time witout the traffic. Now....I just have to wait for him to pick me up so we can go have dinner. Till then....what will I do? I must have some tea. Perhaps, some TV.
So this one argument that we bth got into. What is the cause of getting glasses? I mean near-sightedness. If none of your parents nor their parents had it, how come you got it?
So he says, I must have gotten a recessive trait form my ancestors. I am not too sure. Maybe its enviornmental: Like starring at this computer screen for too long, or direct sun...or something. The main question I wanted to ask you all is: Is it totally heriditary? Let me know what you all think.....I would love to know. Because all of my siblings have glasses, none of my parents or grandparents had it. Already.......I must go relax my soul and my mind. Have a great weekend to YALL!!!!

Thursday is HERE..............

So...Check these out: ) His grandmother made it for my sister's baby...Aren't they gorgeous?

I got a class @ 1 and then I will be studying for another class which is tomorrow. Other than that, I am going to start reading The Count of Monte Cristo. It was recommended by my friend. Lets see how interesting that is. I have to get a gift for him and my sister....their birthdays are coming up.
I had the weirdest dream.....Me & Him. We were falling down from somewhere and we went underground. Very very deep. I remember telling him "I love you". We were both dying at the same time. I saw a lady come out and took him away from me:( I was heart-broken. She told me to stay where I was. Then she asked me for my ticket and took me somewhere and gave me a stub back. That's it ! It was over just like that. It was a very sad dream. I dont want anything like that happening to us!!!!!
I spent good time talking to my grandmother. I am going to miss her. She is going back to our country for good. She won't be coming back. And now....I am going to review somethings for my quiz. And ofcourse I am glad its thursday....it means suffering friday is coming up. I got a long day tommorrow but then after that, we will be reunited: ) Plan is to go to Noodles & Company. Lets see what happens.

Lets talk about Plasma Cell Disorders

Bone marrow biopsy demonstrating sheets of malignant plasma cells in multiple myeloma
Amyloidosis infiltrating the tongue in multiple myeloma
Radiograph of the skull demonstrating a typical lytic lesion in multiple myeloma

Yeah, Its Wednesday and I have nothing better to do than study Plasma Cell Disorders. He is at work so I cannot even talk to him. I already called him like 4 times to talk to him but No ANSWER!!!! But, at least I am getting something done. I am at home racing through these lectures. I am definitely going to have to workout today. Get 200 calories burned on the treadmill. So I weigh 125lbs and I used to weigh 110lbs. That's a lot of pounds to lose. I have become a "Food Lover" and at times obsessive. But then again, I don't eat that much. I think I just need to trim the fat away by running more. What do you all think?

PLASMA CELL DISORDERS:

--> MULTIPLE MYELOMA(MM):

  • overproduction of abnormal plasma cells
  • 3 primary disease processes: expanding plasma cell mass, overproduction of monoclonal immunoglobulins, & production of OAF and cytokines (IL9)
  • effects of monoclonal gammopathy: hyperviscosity syndrome, bence-jones proteins, amyloidosis
  • effects of Osteoclast Activating Factor (OAF) and cytokines: bone destruction, lytic lesions, hypercalcemia
  • BM biopsy: taken @ 2 different sites, usually >10% plasma cells (min) & >30% (max) seen in MM
  • Protein Electrophoresis: indicates a presence of monoclonal spike
  • Immunoelectrophoresis: specifies the type of monoclonal spike (ex: IgM or IgG)
  • Chemistry tests: BUN and Creatinie for kidney function (should be high), LDH is high, Calcium is high, uric acid is high, albumin is low
  • 2 reliable markers of MM: Beta1 microglobulin & C-Reactive Protein

--> SMOLDERING MYELOMA:

  • Low mass MM
  • Normal kidney function, serum calcium
  • No lytic bone lesions

-->SOLITARY PLASMOCYTOMA:

  • Single tumor found outside the BM
  • BM contains <10%>
  • treatment: radiation therapy

-->PLASMA CELL LEUKEMIA:

  • rare, presence of significant number of plasma cells in peripheral blood (PB)
  • >20% plasma cells in the differential
  • less bone pain than MM, organ infiltration is excessive, no hyperviscosity syndrome
  • low hgb/hct; leukocytosis; thrombocytopenia; rouleax; high BUN and creatinine

-->MONOCLONAL GAMMOPATHY OF UNDETERMINED SIGNIFICANCE (MGUS):

  • small M-spike on serum protein electrophoresis
  • small amount of urine light chains
  • no lytic bone lesions
  • <10%>

-->WALDENSTROM'S MACROGLOBULINEMIA (WM):

  • overproduction of monoclonal IgM antibodies by cells called plasmacytoid lymphocytes
  • fatigue, weakness, weight loss, plasmacytoid lymphocytes infiltrate nerves, meninges, and brain
  • prominent feature: hyperviscosity syndrome (retinopathy)
  • cryoglobulins: IgM that precipitate on exposure to cold; bleeding form gums and nose; cryoglobulinemic purpura; abnormal coagulation tests,raynaud's phenomena
  • no cure; chemo + plasmaphoresis

-->HEAVY CHAIN DISEASE:

  • very rare
  • excessive production of heavy chain portion of antibody unit
  • plasma cells have lost the ability to synthesize the light chain component
  • so far IgG, IgA, IGM cases have been reported

I will meet him today : )

Picture of the day..........

Monday passed by so fast. I was in school untill 4 then I went to workout and swim. I was so tired from that. I just fell asleep right away. Today is somewhat relaxing. I just woke up (1pm):O haha.... I am about to start my study packets for my next test. Tests never leave me alone. My treat would be to see him in the evening so I should be studying starting NOW!!!!

Did you know?..........
There are 4 myeloproliferative disorders:
Pathogenesis: neoplastic transformation of a single mutlipotential stem cell
*Chronic Myelocytic Leukemia (CML)--increased production of granulocytes
Incidence: Greater in older adults
*Idiopathic Myelfibrosis (IMF)--increased bone marrow fibrosis & extramedullary hematopoiesis
Incidence: Greater in Males, older adults
*Polycythemia Vera (PV)--excessive production of erythrocytes
Incidence: Greater in Males, older adults
*Essential Thrombocythemia (ET)--excessive production of platelets
Incidence: Greater in older adults

An Awesome Weekend

It all started out on saturday morning. I packed the drinks in the igloo and some snacks for the drive. We got to the park after a smooth drive. It was very scenic the whole way. We entered the park by giving $3.00 entrance fee. We started out with the trail that took us to the falls. The trail itself was not so hard but there was a little bit of rain. However, we were covered by the trees so the rain didn't really hit us too hard. Finally when we got to the end of the trail there was a wooden-booth for people to see the fall. There were signs that said "Do not climb the rocks or swim in the water". It was a tiny stream of water falling against the huge rocks at a moderate pace. The stream fell into a tiny pond of water and then slowly migrated downwards flowing in between rocks. So many people were there and some of them had climbed all the rocks to see the top of the fall and some were swimming. We decided to just stay in the booth and view the fall. Unfortunately, we didn't bring the camera because of the rain. It would have ruined it as it has in the past!!!! So that was the the trail to the base of the falls. We decided to go back to the car and eat lunch somewhere next to the lake. We found a beautiful bench right next to the river and had lunch there. It was just beautiful because by this time the rain had stopped. Although, high winds had taken off. So all the leaves and the nuts were falling from the trees and going into our lunch. We then decided to go on a strenous trail which was about .75miles which lead to the base of the falls. This was a moderately hard trail for me. Its was very rocky and huge slopes at times but easy at some points. The thing that scared me was that there were rattle snakes, bears, and deers in this park. We only saw deers and they ran away from us. We were enjoying this trail a lot. Also, we were munching on Trail-Mix for some time. so after 45 minutes we reached to the base of the falls again. This time we decided to cross the stream of water with rocks and go on the opposite side. From this side we could see the falls better. It was scary for me because it had just rained and the rocks were slippery. I managed to get there with his help. I was tightly holding his hand. We were looking out for each other. There was a point were he was going to slip but i held him tight and pulled him up. Ohhh thank god! So we trailed back to the car and drove aroun to see the rest of the park. We decided to sit next to the lake and have salsa and chips: ) that was so much fun. It was almost 4pm and we decided to end this adventurous day. So we exited from the park and were driving back to the home. We saw a sign for an Orchard and decided to buy some fresh fruits from there. It was really nice...I still have not tasted it yet because it is not ripened just yet! It was a very active day. We decided to play tennis late on. We were so tired at the end of the day. The sleep was much needed for a full recovery. So I woke up late this morning. I started doing some assingment that is due tomorrow. Perhaps some studying for quizes this week. So weekend was excellent, I must say. But now, I miss him: ( I wish he was here.

Phew!!!Exam is Over...

Picture of the Day...........

So the big exam is out of the way. Hopefully I did good. WHo knows the grade might already be up on the blackboard!!!!! The lab today was just too much to handle after the exam and then 2 lectures. Finally got done from there. I was driving home and the road was shut down: ( So had to take different routes. Friday was getting a little too heavy. I got home and had a nice meal. Now no more studying for friday evening.
So now about him, He is working out. But just when I want to talk to him, my minutes are just too less. Gotta wait till 9pm. It is just one of the rarest Fridays that I am not with him: ( I am usually always hanging out with him. But looking forward to tomorrow for some nice hiking in the park. Hopefully it will not rain. So now.....watch a movie or so......LAZY LAZY LAZY!!!

A Chilly Day

Picture of the day!

Today's OvervieW:
Its a very chilly morning. I am really trying to get through the exam material which I couldn't focus on yesterday. Its coming too soon. Gotta get ready for the class, I must say a boring class. I am going over the important isoenzymes. I know!!! Very very interesting. I really want to get sluggishness out of me today and get some excercise. But I gotta pick between an A in exam OR workout!!!!

Did you know?......
  • Acid Phosphatase (ACP) --isoenzyme used in rape cases. They used this for Bill Clinton's Sex Scandal.
  • Toxicology-->
  • Ethanol is the largest abused drug in US;
  • Ethylene Glycol (antifreeze)'s oral dose of 100ml is fatal;
  • Methanol can cause death from as little as 10-30ml;
  • Average age of Huffing is 10-11 years (huffing is inhaling aerosol in sprays);
  • Several names for methamphetamines: ice, crank, crystal, speed;
  • PCP is known as "angel dust" and is a SUPER hallucinogenic drug. It was used as animal anesthetic but now humans!!!!;
  • GHB is the "date rape drug" which is odorless and colorless. It can be slipped into your drink and you wouldn't even know it. Very dangerous!!!
